Baked French Toast

This is a perfect recipe when you have guests. The preparation is easy and because it's cooked in the oven you can entertain instead of cook!

Ingredients
 
1 cup lite maple syrup
1½ cups skim milk
1 lb. loaf French bread, cut
3 teaspoon vanilla extract
  into 2 inch thick slices
¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¾ cup egg substitute
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
3 large egg whites
 
 
Preparation

1. Spray large baking dish with cooking spray.

2. Pour syrup in bottom of dish.

3. Arrange bread slices on top of syrup.

4. Combine egg substitute, egg whites, mix until blended.

5. Pour mixture over bread slices, generously soaking bread.

6. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.

7. Preheat oven to 350ºF.

8. Bake French toast casserole 40 to 45 minutes, until golden brown.

9. Serve with fresh fruit, powdered sugar or cinnamon-sugar mixture if desired.
