Barbara Quinn is a registered dietitian (RD) and certified diabetes educator (CDE) at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula in Monterey, California. She writes a weekly column ON NUTRITION for the Monterey County Herald that is distributed to news outlets through the McClatchy-Tribune Information Service (formerly Knight-Ridder). Barbara received her B.S. degree in dietetics from New Mexico State University and a Master of Science in Food Science and Nutrition from Colorado State University. She has published articles for various outlets, including Better Homes and Gardens magazine. She is a former media representative and “Food for Thought” editor for the California Dietetic Association website. She is a content provider for Wadsworth Publishing Company www.wadsworth.com and writes a bi-monthly update for Defeat Diabetes Foundation www.DefeatDiabetes.org.
Quinn and her husband have two college-age daughters. They live in Carmel Valley, California with three horses, a dog named Will, and a cat named Oreo. She has special expertise with women, infants, children and Native American populations.
