Nectarine


Description: Nectarines can be white or yellow, and clingstone or freestone, although nectarine skins are generally more reddish than those of peaches, contributing to the fruit's plum-like appearance.

Facts: Nectarines are a member of the rose family. Nectarines and peaches are very similar. In fact, there is only one gene that separates the two to make them distinct. Can you guess what gene the nectarine is missing? You got it! The fuzzy gene!
 
Serving Size = 1 CUP 
 
Selection: Choose firm nectarines with smooth skin.
 
Storage: Store unripe in paper bag until ripe, then store at room temperature for use within 2-3 days.
