(Washington-AP) -- There's a new weapon to fight doggie diabetes. The new treatment -- called Vetsulin -- is derived from pigs. It will be available in the U-S this summer, with a veterinarian's prescription.

It's been sold under different names in 20 other countries.

Diabetes strikes one out of every 200 dogs, often between theages of seven and nine, and more often in female dogs than males.
