Defeat Diabetes® E-Lerts™ Newsletter

November 2006
(Volume V, Issue X)

'Tis the Season!
While this is a season of cheer and celebration for most people in the world, it can also be very tricky for a person with diabetes to stay in control. There are parties with all sorts of great food and beverages. It's hard to fit in exercise. Depression often rears its head. And stress, even happy stress, plays an important role.

There is no one easy answer, but here are a few tips:
  • Be organized: Plan your meals and schedule your exercise. You will handle the other stresses of the season better if you maintain as much control as possible over you.
  • If you feel totally stressed out: Go outside for a short walk, talk with a close friend, take a nap or seek professional assistance.
In this issue of E-Lerts™, our  Latest News articles fall in the category of Self-Management with the sub-categories of: Care and Control; Prevention; Supplements and Drugs; and Food and Risks.

UPDATE:  NOVEMBER, 2006

All-in-all things are moving along pretty well.  My major two concerns for the past year have been, first - to be able to take the time necessary to meet and share information and war stories with the huge population(s) that exist in the Northeast Corridor (Maine to Virginia).  I understand that 25% of the U.S. population lives in this Northeast area.  That equates to 75 million people. That’s a lot of people!!  Read More

How to log onto your XP computer when you've forgotten the password
We often get frantic pleas for help from computer users who have forgotten their passwords. If you forget the password to your XP user account, you may still be able to get back in. The easiest way is to use a password reset disk, but if you didn't create one, there's still hope: Read More

Last jobs for the gardener to do before winter

I’m assuming your gardens are put to rest for winter.  But, before the gardener rests there are a few jobs to be done, such as taking care of leftover seeds, dirty gardening tools, etc.
If you didn’t use all the seeds in the packages, store the packages in a snap-top plastic bag (paper packets tend to collect moisture & get moldy).  Seeds from one year will still be good to plant the next year if stored properly. Read More
