What is Diabetic Neuropathy?
7 of 10 people with diabetes suffer from some form of diabetic neuropathy. It is the most common complication of the disease. Neuropathy is a family of nerve disorders that affects every organ system including the feet, legs, arms and hands, digestive tract, heart, and sex organs. Depending on the affected nerves you can also have problems with your digestive system, urinary tract, blood vessels and heart. For some people, these symptoms are mild; for others, diabetic neuropathy can be painful, disabling or in extreme cases fatal.
Although people with diabetes can develop nerve problems at any time, the risk rises with age, glucose control and how long you’ve had diabetes. Yet, you can often prevent diabetic neuropathy or slow its progress... Read more about Diabetic Neuropathy.

Islets of Humor™ By Theresa Garnero
The avocado is simply one of the most buttery, creamy, delectable fruits out there. Yes, you read that right an avocado is actually a fruit, belonging to the genus Persea in the Lauraceae family. The avocado is also called an Alligator Pear because of its pear-like shape and green skin.
Unlike most fruits avocados have a high fat content but don’t despair, 2/3 of these fat grams are health-promoting monounsaturated fats, especially oleic acid.
Turns out that as many as 43% of Americans purchase avocados so you’ve probably eaten them as guacamole (a party dip favorite) or in salads or on sandwiches, or as a container for chicken or tuna salad. But it turns out that avocados aren’t just for snacks! Many cultures use the avocado for beverages, soups, desserts, even ice cream.
