Half of U.S. Could Have Diabetes or Prediabetes within Ten YearsMore than half of Americans will have diabetes or be prediabetic by 2020 at a cost to the U.S. health care system of $3.35 trillion if current trends go on unabated, according to analysis of a new Report "The United States of Diabetes: Challenges and Opportunities in the Decade Ahead."
Study found eating moderate amounts of omega-3 fatty acids was beneficial for patients with periodontal disease. Patients with diabetes have increased incidence and severity of periodontal disease not accounted for by differences in the subgingival microbial infection. Poor glycemic control has been consistently associated with periodontal disease severity.
The HART-D trial showed that people with diabetes should mix aerobics with weight training to get the best results in lowering blood sugar and also worked best for weight loss.

"After nearly dying upon diagnosis with diabetes in 1977--with an astronomical glucose level of 880--while on a trip to Boston, Clarence has since devoted the last 32 years of his life to diabetes education."
Clarence Haynes died last night at the age of 93. Clarence, we will miss you!
