Changes in Food Subsidies Causes a 38% Fall In Heart Disease

In 1991 the Polish government cut subsidies for saturated fats from dairy and animal sources.
Saturated fats are found in a wide range of common foods, including meat products, hard cheese, cream and palm oil. The Study found that by 2002, deaths from coronary heart disease had dropped by over a third in the 45-64 age group - a 38 per cent drop for men and 42% for women.
