Fetus Size, Not Mother's Blood Sugar, Is The Most Important in Treating Gestational Diabetes

Measuring the size of an unborn baby's mid-section provides a better indication than maternal blood glucose testing of whether the mother should receive treatment for gestational diabetes. If this method were widely accepted, it could reduce the number of women who require treatment for this disease, which is a form of diabetes that appears during pregnancy and can lead to large birth weight babies.
