A prospective cohort study of more than 40,000 people in Japan has shown that drinking green tea can significantly cut deaths from cardiovascular disease (CVD) as well as all-cause mortality, particularly in women.

Pomegranate Juice Could Benefit Diabetics

Technion-Israel Institute of Technology researchers say that pomegranate juice may provide important health benefits for diabetic patients. According to results published in the August 2006 issue of Atherosclerosis, subjects who drank 180 ml (6 oz.) of pomegranate juice per day for three months experienced a reduced risk for atherosclerosis, a condition that leads to arterial wall thickening and hardening. Atherosclerosis accounts for 80% of all deaths among diabetic patients.

The results of a major study released: The Dream Study (Diabetes Reduction Assessment with ramipril and rosiglitazone Medication) with over 5000 patients Rosiglitazone reduced the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 62 percent (p<0.0001) relative to placebo among people at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
