The sooner a person knows they have diabetes, the sooner they can begin to take action against the disease. Diabetes can go undetected for a long time. The longer that time is, the more damaging it is to the body. Knowledge of the warning signs of diabetes and the taking of the Defeat Diabetes® Screening Test (on a recurring basis) are two of the most potent weapons we have in detecting diabetes at an early stage.
Once diagnosed with diabetes, a person can begin to take control of the disease through lifestyle changes, diet, exercise and consultations with diabetes specialists. In many cases, early (enough) detection can stop the progression of the disease.
Andrew P. Mandell, the Executive Director of the Defeat Diabetes Foundation is also known as Mr. Diabetes®. A complete profile of Mr. Diabetes® can be read by clicking HERE.
The Mr. Diabetes® Wake Up and Walk™ Tour is a program for diabetes awareness. It is essentially a 10,000+ mile, 3+ year walk around the United States by Mr. Diabetes®. During this walk, he will be passing through thousands of cities from coast to coast. All along his journey, Mr. Diabetes® will be speaking to millions of people, informing them of the warning signs of diabetes and the importance of early detection of the disease. He will take his message to the airwaves (radio and TV), and to the press. His message of diabetes awareness and early detection will be heard.

Any time is the best time to take the test. If you don't know if you are diabetic, and haven't already done so, take it right now...Just click HERE. If you have taken the test recently, come back in six months and take it again. Then mark your calendar for six months later and take it again. Get the point!?
