Reasons to Give to Defeat Diabetes Foundation
Every minute of every day 3 people are diagnosed with diabetes. 1 in 3 children WILL get diabetes in their lifetime. Tragically, more people die each year from diabetes, a preventable disease, than AIDS and cancer combined.
Defeat Diabetes Foundation (DDF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity dedicated to the prevention, early identification and self-management of diabetes. DDF was founded in 1990 to address the issues of prevention and early identification that weren’t being met by other diabetes non-profits.
The reason for our passion and our perseverance is two-fold: our founders are people who have diabetes, themselves. So, on a very personal level, we know the highs and the lows people with diabetes face 24/7 for the rest of their lives. We also know that Type 2 diabetes and its complications can be prevented.
Defeat Diabetes Foundation provides a unique and powerful first hand, self-empowerment model focused on awareness, education, prevention, early detection and self-management.
Our model includes:
• 2-Minute Defeat Diabetes® Screening Test
• Comprehensive on-line Diabetes Information Center including:
o Self-Management resources
o Nutrition and Fitness information
o Links to current information and latest research on diabetes
o E-Lerts™ newsletter
• Kid Initiative to Defeat Diabetes® (KIDD™) Projects – an umbrella of programs focused on educating and preventing diabetes among our most precious resource, our children.
• Diabetes Awareness Now (DAN) Project –A program focused on Diabetes Awareness through public and media outreach.
• Peer support program
Defeat Diabetes Foundational does NOT support animal testing. DDF posts articles in our Latest News section on research and treatment announcements, but we do not support the use of live animals in obtaining these results.
The bulk of our funding comes from small donors, most of whom have had their lives touched by diabetes in some way. Please join us to help save lives by preventing diabetes and its complications. 100% of your gift, (less minimal banking or processing fees), will be allocated to the program fund you select.
