Easy Awareness and Outreach Projects

These projects are designed to be accomplished in a few minutes or a few hours many of them don't even require that you get out of your comfort zone. Friends, family, neighbors, classmates, and fellow staffers can all benefit from information about diabetes and its prevention.

E-Outreach

Technology has made it easier to get our message out to the world. If you have a great email list (or even a small one) you can help get the message out to those that you care about by sending them an email with a link to the Defeat Diabetes^® Screening Test and Warning Signs page(s).

We've provided some sample text for you to use or you can write your own.

Defeat Diabetes^® Screening test brochure

Help us get the word out by distributing the Defeat Diabetes^® Screening Test Brochure. The brochure includes information on the warning signs and complications of diabetes and includes a short Q and A that assesses your risk of developing the disease.

We can make it available to your group, organization or business for distribution to members or staff.

There are, potentially, thousands of civic groups, organizations and businesses that we could distribute information to with your help. Below is a short list of potential distribution avenues:

•Place of worship – Churches, temples, mosques and synagogues are all appropriate places. The best place to start is in your own place of worship. The Free Defeat Diabetes® Screening Test can be handed out after the service, after religious study, in the hymnal or mailed in the newsletter.

•Civic or Fraternal Organizations – Think about the various organizations that you belong t Lions, Rotary, and Moose Clubs, Junior League, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts – the list is large. Your organization might also be interested in getting involved in a larger outreach effort to the rest of the community.

•Other Groups – Your book club, dance class, fitness class, trade association, business group, school groups and clubs or sports team.

•Community Based non-profits – that serve at- risk populations – African Americans, Asian, Latinos, Native Americans, Seniors, libraries, etc.

Mass Outreach Projects

If you have a group of people who are interested in taking a day and distributing the Defeat Diabetes^® Screening Test Brochure to places where there are a lot of people gathered such as: shopping centers, fitness centers, college campuses, street fairs etc. contact us to help coordinate your event. Some of these outreach locations may require special permission or the cooperation of their management. Be sure not to over reach your authority. Our Public Outreach department can assist you with this process.
