But none has captured my attention and my heart like Defeat Diabetes Foundation and its Executive Director, Andrew P. Mandell -- Mr. Diabetes®. Andy is a senior citizen and an insulin-dependent diabetic. And he is PASSIONATE about informing the public of the incidence, dangers and costs associated with diabetes.

In fact, he's so worked up about it that he completed a 10,000+ mile walk of the perimeter of the U.S. to raise awareness about the disease. Along the way, Andy trekked over 10,000 miles through 34 states. He walked through wind, rain, and snow and blistering heat. He crossed fertile plains, rolling hills, deserts and mountain passes and he talked with thousands upon thousands of people about diabetes. He now has an “army” of people following his progress and embracing his message.

Defeat Diabetes Foundation has a number of great outreach programs for the public and they rely on the generous donations of people like you and me to help support these programs.
