Camp Jordan is a great adventure camp featuring traditional camp activities while making friends with other children who understand the challenges of having diabetes.  

Activities: swimming, canoeing, crafts, campfires, cookouts, games, archery etc., Location: Makemie Woods in Barhamsville VA (near Williamsburg VA

Beginner Explorers (entering grades 3 - 5)

Two-night, 3-day session is a quick introduction to camp.  Campers will have fun doing traditional camp activities such as campfire, swimming, boating and crafts, while making friends with other children who have diabetes.  Camp Fee $399


Elementary Explorers  (entering grades 4 - 6)

Ten Day Session

Activities: campfires, swimming, crafts, hiking and nature study, boating, cooking over an open fire, and other outdoor activities

Pioneers (entering grades 7 - 10)

Ten-day session 

Activities: More experience in building outdoor skills, boating skills, nature studies and group building, including soaring over the new Makemie Woods zip lines (weather permitting).

Canoe Adventure (alternating seasons--entering grades 7 - 10) 

Ten day session (not available in 2009)

Limited to 8 campers.

Activities: In addition to the activities listed above, campers will spend  time developing necessary canoeing skills in preparation for a well-supervised, overnight river canoe trip (weather permitting). Campers must be able to swim 100 meters without stopping. 

 
Adventure By Choice (entering grades 9-10)

Ten-day session 

Ever wondered what it would be like to walk a tightwire or jump to a flying trapeze? Learning to trust others and building self-confidence is taken to a higher level.  In addition to the Pioneer program activities, campers who register for this session will spend two days on low and high ropes courses at William and Mary College(weather permitting).  A rope safety system known as a belay protects participants, and all activities are guided by trained and tested leaders.

Location: Nestled within 700 acres of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in western Roanoke County, conveniently located just off Interstate 81 exit 132.

Activities: Canoeing, arts and crafts, outdoor sports, archery, hiking and much more! A parent education day is offered on Friday, June 29.
