blood sugars can delay or even prevent complications. With this knowledge we
can help our campers make wise choices about diet and insulin. Campers and

Conrad-Chinnock offers a recreational, social and educational opportunity for
diabetic youth and their families. Campers, medical and program staff share
friendship and support. Campers are taught diabetes self management skills in a
fun, interactive, safe environment. Location: In the
San Bernadino Mountains, Activities:
Programs include water activities in a heated pool, arts and crafts, nature
activities, archery, rock climbing, hiking, theme days, lake canoeing,
volleyball, basketball, and mountain biking along with medical education and
self knowledge. All sessions are
led by a pediatric endocrinologist, and a team of physicians, nurses and
dietitians. The camp has registered dietitians on staff. Meals and snacks are

Los Niños is located on the San Lorenzo River near Boulder Creek in the Santa
Cruz Mountains. Camp De Los Niños is located just off of scenic route Highway 9
in the beautiful redwood forest of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Activities:
Physical activities include backpacking, field sports, volleyball, cable slide,
climbing wall, archery, and swimming. In addition, there is time for quiet
activities, crafts, and nature study. Some basic concepts in diabetes
management and control are presented. Evening campfire programs include group
singing, skits, and other fun age-appropriate activities. Age: Youths aged

of Kings Canyon National Park, the landscape around this camp is studded with
the largest of living things, the Giant Sequoia trees. Some of these trees are
more than 3,000 years old. Teens can explore the forest, hang out on the lake,
rappel down huge boulders, have an exciting adventure on night hike, plus the
opportunity to learn more about diabetes, themselves, and others living with
diabetes. Location: Sequoia
Lake, 50 miles east of Fresno. Activities:

summertime fun through plus the opportunity to learn more about diabetes,
themselves and others living with diabetes. The Larry L. Hillblom Camp is the
perfect location to make learning fun. This camp is dedicated to the memory of
Larry L. Hillblom and his commitment to help people with diabetes and
supporting research to find a cure. Location: Sequoia

creating arts and crafts, learn to sail on Sequoia Lake and enjoy the fun of
evening campfires. Youth will have an exciting adventure on an overnight

exciting adventure on an overnight campout, plus the opportunity to learn more
about diabetes, themselves, and others living with diabetes. San Jose Day Camp Location: San Jose Alum Rock Youth Center A place for fun and adventure, it provides vital educational experiences for
children to learn more about their diabetes. Day campers arrive at camp with a
sense of anticipation, and return home in the afternoon full of self-confidence
and fun. The program is
designed to provide continuous development for the camper who has been to camp
before or for the newly diagnosed. Most importantly, Day Camp is one of the few
places where children have the opportunity for group interaction with other
children their own age, who also have diabetes. Activities: Playing fields, playground equipment and indoor activities such as arts and
crafts, group games and education. Staffing includes nurses, dietitians and
caring counselors who are devoted to providing a safe environment. Day Camp

Co-educational Residential Camp for boys and girls ages 8 to 18 who are overweight and have
type 2 diabetes, as well as a day camp for children ages 4 to 18, located at
Pepperdine University in California and Wake Forest University in North
