25.8 million people, or 8.3% of the U.S. population, have diabetes.

35% of U.S. adults aged 20 years or older had pre-diabetes (50% of those aged 65 years or older). In 2010 an estimated 79 million Americans aged 20 years or older have pre-diabetes.
The latest statistics estimate there are approximately 266 million people diagnosed with diabetes worldwide, and that number is expected to rise to 380 million by the year 2025!
