Programs and Services

Defeat Diabetes Foundation is a 501(c)3 charity and conducts a variety of programs each year to promote awareness, prevention and early detection.

The Foundation maintains a website as a source of information for anyone interested in health and especially for "pre-diabetics" and diabetics that features content about diabetes, its complications and the importance of self-management.  Defeat Diabetes Foundation conducts programs each year to promote awareness, prevention and early detection.

    • The Defeat Diabetes Foundation Website, www.DefeatDiabetes.org:  A source for everyone interested in health, especially Diabetics and Pre-Diabetics.  It features a free on-line E-Lerts™ newsletter and very comprehensive and understandable information about Diabetes health, research, nutrition and fitness.  There is original content from medical and professional personnel in their areas of expertise.  It also contains sections on resources for diabetic support groups, diabetic children's camps, latest news and much, much more.

    • KIDD™ and Schools Programs Currently targets elementary, middle schools and civic organizations throughout the country by distributing Free of Charge the Foundations unique Defeat Diabetes® Screening Test brochure.  We believe that the earlier diabetes is addressed the better chance to control it or even prevent it.

    • Pet Diabetes Awareness and Prevention Program: The Mission of Defeat Diabetes Foundation's Pet Diabetes Awareness and Prevention Program is the prevention, early identification and management of pet diabetes.

    • KIDD Curriculum: is a health related program designed for schools, youth and community organizations to educate children and their community about diabetes.

    • Medical Supplies:  This program distributes donated medical supplies to individuals and organizations worldwide.

    • D.A.N. Project (Diabetes Awareness Now): This Defeat Diabetes® Awareness Project is a Public Service Announcement campaign about the dangers of undiagnosed diabetes. Public Service Announcements about diabetes awareness and prevention have aired on television and radio in targeted local markets and nationally. Established in memory of Dan Kerner.

    • Defeat Diabetes Foundation mails information to the general public including the Defeat Diabetes® Screening Test Brochures, Diabetes Risk Factors, Warning Signs and Harsh Realities brochure.

    • The Media Outreach Campaigns informs and educates The Media of the dangers of diabetes.

    • Advocacy Program:  Mr. Diabetes® testifies before Governors, Senators, Congressmen, State Legislatures, Mayors, City Councils, and Civic Organizations to bring awareness of the diabetic condition to governments and their health agencies. The Foundation also provides information to the public regarding legislation pending that would impact diabetes related programs and services.

    • Mr. Diabetes® meets with leaders of the medical community as well as hospitals, Diabetes Support Groups and Senior Citizen Groups, Schools, Camps, and other venues.
